Product details
Phở (pronounced "fuh") is a famous Vietnamese noodle soupmade with clear broth, flat rice noodles (bánh phở), herbs, and meat like beef or chicken.
Origins and History
Originating in Northern Vietnam (specifically Nam Định province and Hanoi) in the early 20th century, phở evolved from earlier meat and noodle soups under French and Chinese influences. Increased cattle slaughter during the French colonial period provided an abundant supply of beef bones, which vendors simmered for hours to create the signature aromatic broth. It was originally sold at dawn and dusk by street vendors who roamed the streets with a pole slung over their shoulders. -- [Will Fly for Food].
